mid-morning post

Greetings to all readers. 1st post of the year 2009. Barely 20 days into the 1st month, I am already struggling with my exams. Not a good start for the year. Adding to the 'misfortune', Chinese New Year falls on mid-way towards the end of my 1st semester exams. What a occasion to usher in the new year of Ox. How horrific can it be.

Exams start on the 22nd January to be precise. Ends on the 5th day of CNY. Well, can it be that long more? Reminisces the moment of celebrating my 1st CNY away from home in 2007 and 2008. This would be one of the year which it is 'fortunately' fall on CNY week. I can go on complaining and whining like a pig and things won't change.

Things to change for this new year of 2009! Read the next blog entry to know what are the (new) resolutions up and running for the next 11 months.

TROFFE!!

long gone but not forgotten

hi to all readers, i appologize for my ignorance and lazy-ass behaviour of not updating my 'beloved' blog. I may have hate it or lose the love for my blog. Hmmm.. Can it be a relapse of emotional state? Anyway, it was a busy month of october and november. From busy schedule of lectures to MSSM duty, i really dont know where did my time have gone to. whether it is my nature or its fate, i had jump from trouble to another. Since stepping aside from duty of MSSM, I thought I was done. But it never left me. UKEC is the name.

Did a bit of traveling during winter break. Dublin was the first stop then Belfast. Back in Manchester for a day and off to Scotland the next day. Let the road trip begin!
p/s:sorry vincent!

Isle of Skye was the first on the list. Saucy Mary? Well, it will be explained later. Next stop, Inverness. The famous monster in Lochness (pity, she was not spotted). Last but not least, Edinburgh! An amazing city with lights of the city was flashing the night life!

Exams are on the way! 22nd January till the 30th January 2009. Preparation wasn't going at the right pace! Interviews crop out in between of preparations. (Fingers cross!)

This my brief update on me for the year 2008 end to the beginning of 2009!

Happy belated new year! and Do come back for more this end of the month!

Good luck to all for exams!

A Night Before

A random blog entry from me at 12.40am in the morning. Return from the worst club event of my life in Manchester. Road House it is. What I have experience before, wasn't the greatest but this was the worst I have been. Music wasn't that bad actually but the atmosphere wasn't there for me and my friends to enjoy. So, we decided, "That's it!" Get out!"

A couple of man asked us about it, "The atmosphere wasn't that great, don't waste your money in there" Wait! wasting money! I have wasted like £2.90 for a bottle of Budweiser. What ever it is. Experience that counts!

Purple People Orientation tutoring starts like in 10 hours. City Bus Tour. 8 people in a team. 3 Buses at one go. New Freshers! Hopefully well-behaved! :)

4) Application to masters studies?
5) MSSM work resumes
6) Options selections for final year
7) Unpacking
8) Rearrange and clean up my room

*blog more i suppose?*

9.9.08

4 days since i got off the plane. Manchester has been ever MANCHESTER. GLOOMY and SHITTY.

back in Manchester

back to the gloomy, rainy city. where else, but Manchester. Got off from the plane today after a grueling flight. Sitting at the tail-end of the plane and gastric attack.

piccadilly point still the same. messy as usual at the corridor lane as well as the kitchen.

Room sweet room. enlightening the room with groovy music.

What else i need is my full time rest and regular exercise back on track!

voyage

3 days an counting. 3 months of summer holidays back home is coming to an end. Packing is normally an uninspiring thing which I would always don't look forward to do but this time, I have nothing as much like last years.

Less shopping and less money spend this year (Recession?)

Can it be the same as last year? I don't see the urge to go back this time but neither do i want to stay back here.

Meeting up with a bunch of friends at Shi Hui's farewell was delightful and fun get together.

Piccadilly Point here I come home!

p/s: Selamat Berpuasa to all my Muslim friends and Happy 51st Merdeka to Malaysia!

rest.health.experience.OLD

Health is wealth. Haven't been feeling well since I came back from Manchester. A good rest is what i need most, just before I step foot on foreign soil again.

What I can say is that time really flies. 3 years since I first step foot on Manchester soil. In less than a week, life as an 'old man' or whatever your wanna call, is gonna begin. YEAR 3!! Yes sudah TIGA TAHUN!! Fuh!! Can't believe!!

There's a few milestone to achieve. I have been in the Malaysian Students' Society of Manchester (MSSM) family for the past 2 years. Joined the 1st time in 2006 as ordinary member, serve as the Webmaster and now outgoing President for the year 2007/2008. 2 more months of service and then I am off duty and focus on my 3rd Year (hopefully not my final year). I had a wonderful time with the MSSM family. Thanking my mentors like Alex D'netto and Vince Chong whom they had guid me through the years in MSSM. Believe me or not, there were blood, sweat and tears were shed during the 2 years service.

I wanna see a change in myself and some of my pals neither back home nor on foreign soil.

Good luck to those who had graduated!!

till then....

running out of time

Coming to my 3rd Year of studies and i am still undecided. 7 weeks of internship had changed my perception on what I am opting to do after graduation. Engineering or Entrepreneur?

Options I have for myself as follows:
1) Graduate 3rd Year and pursue Masters
2) Graduate 4th Year and pursue 'dream' of becoming qualified engineer
3) Graduate 4th Year and pursue Masters
4) Graduate 3rd Year and work for a couple of years. Pursue MBA after

Options can go on and on but this are favourable choices.

Time really flies. They don't stop and wait. and the worst thing is, they don't notify us.

Nearing to the end!

Final paper, tomorrow at 9.45am: Control Systems I

Preparation: mediocre
Results: n/a

It's been a long way to the end. What a year to end on the day where I have to have the hardest paper of all. Preparation wasn't as good as expected. Started only like 4 days ago (not suppose to mention the about it) but it wasn't the right thing I should do for 2nd year.

Next semester: 3rd Year. Crucial! Nothing can stop me from getting towards my final year with all my effort from day 1 in uni.

Looking forward to going home and plans after exams. Not forgetting my family which I left back home and not contacting them for some time is the last thing I would do. Spending my summer holidays with family and friends, is the ultimate thing which I am not going to neglect.

Well, suppose to be studying for the last paper for tomorrow, I will sign off here! Good luck to those who are having their last paper tomorrow.

Kings of Europe!

European Champions!

Well done United! Double winner of 2007/2008 season. Crowned European Champion in Moscow (hometown of Roman) How ironic!!

Hero of the night, van der Sar saved Anelka's penalty, to win the Champions League title. Rubbing into the wound, Chelsea captain John Terry missed the crucial penalty kick of the sudden death penalty shoot-out.

Cry baby cry, Terry!! Missing the penalty during the shoot-out, Ronaldo was very fortunate to have the lady luck by his team side. But he desrved the standing ovation for his overall performance, scoring the opening goal which was thought to be the winning goal but to the disappointment of the United fans, Chelsea Lampard scored the equaliser just before the half-time. 2 great chances came by just before the equalizing goal, missed by Tevez and the would-have-been goal by Carrick was saved by the face of Terry. Oh my! What a first half!

Opening goal: Ronaldo header!

Second half resumes where Chelsea dominated the whole half. Drogba almost scored but denied by the post. Lucky Lucky United! a couple more chances by Chelsea but too bad, lady luck wasnt on their side. The games went to extra-time, with both side finding the winning goal but to no avail. Chelsea hit the post again, and United's clear chance on goal shot was cleared by the solid defence of Chelsea.

Awful incident at the end of the 2nd half of extra time. SLAP! There goes Drogba! A slap on Vidic's face, and a slap of RED card on your face, you Drog! What an ending to his final! Pathetic! Kah Fai (Chelsea fan) claimed, "He should go, ass!!"

Penalties:
United - Tevez, Carrick, Hargreaves, Nani, Anderson, Giggs [Ronaldo missed]
Chelsea - Ballack, Belletti, Lampard, A.Cole, Kalou [Terry & Anelka missed]

Champione!! Champione!! Champione!!

Tough luck Chelsea, maybe some other time! Goodbye Avram! Farewell!!

Premier League Champions for the 10th time!

Courtesy of Gadget Lab from Wired.com

Apple's second-biggest event of the year, its Worldwide Developers Conference, is drawing near. That means it's time for the tech media's traditional heap of speculation and wishful thinking, hammered into the constraints of a numbered list. So with no further ado, here is Wired.com's list of the top events to expect at WWDC 2008, June 9-13 in San Francisco.

What's that you say? You'd like to go? Hope you already bought your tickets, because WWDC is already sold out. Fortunately, you can see the future right here on Gadget Lab.

Disclaimer: ninety percent of what is written below (or on any gadget blog) will turn out to be far from the mark or just plain wrong, but hey, if we don't make a guess, we won't get anything right.

1. 3G iPhone

We expect this one at least to come true. The stock of current iPhones has dried up. Even the Mothership has run out, and orders are being filled with by a combination of rationing (AT&T is limiting orders to one per customer) and recycling (AT&T is selling reconditioned handsets). The rumors are whirling around us like trailer park dogs in a twister, and seemingly every telco in the world is announcing deals with Apple, bringing the potential market of the iPhone to 500 million.

What to expect? Well, 3G is all but certain. GPS would be nice, although it isn't a standard part of the Infineon chip (pdf) expected to power the iPhone 2.0. The software we mostly know about because the SDK is out there in use and leaking new information almost daily. A proper camera is essential: The crappy 2 megapixel camera in the current iPhone is not much more than an afterthought; the new one should at least have video.

A month ago we asked you what you would like to see and you came up with some crackers: Radio (never), Bluetooth for headphones (maybe), MicroSD slot (yeah, right) and a real keyboard (never!)

Expect the 3G iPhone to become available right around June 15, which is when AT&T employees have been told not to take a vacation (presumably, to deal with the iPhone demand).

Likelihood: 10/10

2. Proper New MacBook Pro

Up until we broke the news of the MacBook Air (one day before it first slid from a manilla envelope), many people were predicting a new 12" MacBook Pro to replace the beloved 12" PowerBook of old. Apple refreshed the aging pro notebook line in February, but apart from some multi touch love under the hood, there wasn't much change. In fact, the MacBook Pro is almost exactly the same in looks as the original PowerBook G4, announced back in January 2001. It's time for a change.

We expect a big multi touch trackpad, the new chiclet-style keyboard, an almost bezel-less screen (which should bring the overall size down despite still having a 15" screen) and perhaps some 3G connectivity (Apple has so many deals with cellphone networks now that an international rollout of an always-on connection is feasible). We'll probably see a version without an optical drive, too, perhaps with a second hard drive filing the space. And after all the whining about the MacBook Air being a little wussy in its specs, it could be time for Apple to drive home a powerful, well endowed twelve-incher.

Likelihood: 8/10

3. Aluminum MacBook

This rumor has been drifting in the background for a while. If true, expect nothing more than a new case and a multi touch trackpad. White plastic used to be the marker that set the consumer goods apart from the pro gear, but ever since the iMac went all brushed aluminum and the iPod lost its iconic white case, that's no longer so.

Likelihood: 4/10

4. Internet Tablet

Steve Jobs said that Apple would never make a Tablet Mac. He also said there would never be a video iPod. A Kindle-sized iPod Touch would certainly be a great toy, but would anybody buy it? The iPod Touch is popular because it is a regular sized iPod with a slew of killer features, and people are used to the size. But a MacBook Touch would be a whole new product: too big to fit in a pocket and too small to do any real work (not to mention the lack of a real keyboard). But then, if anybody can take a flailing (read: all current tablet PCs) category and make it attractive, it's Apple. Remember the iPod?

Likelihood: 1/10

5. Touch Screen Nano
Why not? Ever since Apple got all touchy-feely with the iPhone, touch is showing up everywhere. We don't expect a full on mini iPod Touch, but an iPod of the current Nano's size which is all screen on one face is certainly possible. Apple could leave out email and Maps (and the Stocks application – who ever uses that apart from Jobs himself?), but Wi-Fi would be likely, if only for buying tracks from the iTunes Store.

Likelihood: 5/10
