Roland Garros Final

Roland Garros 2009 a.k.a The French Open is drawing close this Sunday with the Men's Singles Final. The final will be 2nd seeded Roger Federer and Robin Sordeling who knocked out a host of top seeds in the tournament, namely Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Fernando Gonzalez. Kudos to this Swedish player who is seeded out of the top 20 and he would be playing the great FedEx.

Federer started the match not too well. The lanky del Potro serves his way out with multiple of Aces. It took Federer about 2 hours plus to break the Argentine. Then, the final spot came calling in his 4th set, by trashing him 6-1. In his final set, Federer lost his break advantage but regain it back after he broke del Potro's serve right after. At the end, Federer's stamina champion his opponent as del Potro looked exhausted. Well done to Federer!

I can see the finishing line...

at 11.45am today, I walked out of The Academy and YES! It's almost the end of my engineering education which span for 3 years long. I am glad that I have been through thick and thin and survive with what I can say it was very satisfying! I am very fortunate to have helpful and kind friends who are willing to help. I might have fallen into the right path at the right time. I am glad and there's no complaints! There's ups and downs which I believe that could help me throughout my journey here so far.

There's one more to go and it will not be taken for granted. Tools and Techniques for Enterprise which is the final paper on the coming Tuesday. I am willing to work hard even I know essay would be a predicament which I could face in the future. This is the first step towards greater challenge!

Apart from myself on my coming-to-an-end undergraduate journey, Roger Federer had came through even more difficult challenges before today. In his last 16 match in the French Open, he overcame a 2-0 deficit to come back 3-2 winning his final 3 sets to secure a place in the quarter-final.

Monfils Federer
Monfils hails the Champion!

His quarter-final opponent, frenchman Gael Monfils who is the local favourite made Federer work hard for his win. At the end, Federer was the victor. The result, 7-6, 6-2, 6-4. now Roger Federer will face Argentine Juan Martin del Potro. Looking forward for the match between FedEx a.ka. Federer and lanky Argentinian, del Potro.

Roland Garros - Day 2 (25/5/2009)

The usual suspects, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer won their respective matches. It was an initial difficult route for Nadal as his opponent, Marcos Daniel gave him a tough time in his first set. At the end, it was Nadal's win by 7-5, 6-4, 6-3.

Spotting a pink outfit?

Roger Federer won his match by 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 against Alberto Martin from Spain. He will meet Argentine Jose Acasuso in the next round.

Running for the ball!

For the women's, Ana Ivanovic did not play today but her next opponent is from Thailand, Tamarine Tanasugarn. Interesting! :D

Updates around the sporting world

Formula One

Jenson Button has once again clinched the vital victory at Monaco GP. Starting from pole, he had all his chances to seal the 10 points. Yet, again Brawn 1-2 with Rubens Barrichello coming 2nd.

Another torrid day for the McLarens. Lewis Hamilton, the defending champion finished 12th after starting from the back of the grid. Teammate Heikki Kovalainen had an accident which forced him to retire. Well, we need more consistency and power to win! Where's the spirit, boys?!

English Premier League

It's the end of the 2008/09 season. Manchester United capped a wonderful ending by Darron Gibson scoring a wonderful goal. Spectacular! Hope to see him next season as regular. The end it was 1-0 to United. However, Hull was lucky to survive the relegation battle despite losing to United. They were lucky as Newcastle and Middlesborough were the unlucky sides who lost their crucial last day match, which they badly needed 3 full points to survive. Darn unlucky! Goodbye Newcastle. From the wonderful years of Sir Bobby Robson's boys who had beaten Barcelona in the Champions League to the fall-out of the Newcastle owner, Mike Ashley, it seems all good things must come to an end. Big names clearout is expected and Championship football for a year then.

Till death do them apart from the Premier League

Roland Garros 2009 - Day 1 (24/5/2009)

No big names were playing on Day 1. Apart from that, only Andy Murray and Ana Ivanovic were the notable ones who are playing. Both got off with a good start by winning impressively.

Andy Murray beat Juan Ignacio Chela 6-2, 6-2, 6-1

Anna Ivanovic beat Sara Errani 7-6, 6-3

That's all for the update for the weekend!

Roland Garros 2009

Roland Garros 2009 is back in Paris. Will Nadal go on to win again? Will Federer be ending his barren run here? The only Grand Slam eluded from his glorious career and 1 more to match the great Pete Sampras. A week ago, Federer reduces the odd to win against Nadal on clay by beating Nadal at the Madrid Masters (Clay court). Does this mean Nadal is going weaker? (I hope so) Anyways, Federer is my bet to clinch the Roland Garros this year!

Federer in action!

Nadal with his forceful forehand return!

Great rivalries between 2 great champions!

The Roland Garros starts on the 24th of May till the Final on the 7th of June 2009. Looking forward to the finals.

Anyways, Ana Ivanovic is hot!
